Digital waste tracking is now mandatory for receiversThe guide

LoadSnap vs MyWastetracker,
side by side for .

MyWastetracker sells itself as the simple, low-cost answer to DEFRA's mandate, and that is a fair description. It is also a small product with a small website, which makes some of this comparison a list of things nobody has said.

What it says it is

MyWastetracker describes itself as the simple and low-cost answer to DEFRA's digital waste tracking, and the whole product is stated in one sentence on their homepage: a dedicated office module, a drivers' app, comprehensive reporting, instant data submission to DEFRA, and inclusive waste receiver and broker modules. That is the complete published feature set. There is no features page and no pricing page.

They are on the GOV.UK provider list under Digital Waste Tracking Limited and state they passed PAT testing. Their FAQ is the clearest explanation of the mandate on any competitor site we looked at, including a genuinely useful note that DEFRA's own free spreadsheet alternative exists, is available for twelve months from October, and requires submission within forty-eight hours of a load arriving. Pointing customers at the free alternative is not what most vendors do.

Pricing is from £39 plus VAT for carriers, varying by the number of disposal sites and vehicles, free to use until October 2026 with free setup and support. They publish a landline. For a small operator who wants to phone somebody, that is worth more than it looks.

What has not been said

This is where the comparison gets thin, and we want to be careful about the difference between a product not having something and a website not mentioning it.

There is no statement anywhere about offline working, native apps, GPS, route planning, scheduling, container tracking, weighbridge capture, vehicle checks or invoicing. There is a drivers' app, but nothing describes what it does. There are no published price tiers beyond the from figure, so what you actually pay for three sites and eight vehicles is not knowable from the site. And Digital Waste Tracking Ltd was incorporated in June 2025, so there is no independent review history: no Trustpilot profile, no Capterra listing.

None of that means the product is bad. It means you will have to establish most of it on a call, and we would rather say that than mark a long column of crosses against a company that simply has a small website.

Price, and what you are choosing between

If DEFRA submission is the entire job, MyWastetracker at £39 plus VAT with carrier, receiver and broker modules all included is a straightforward and defensible purchase.

LoadSnap starts free for ten loads a month and runs from £25 to £249 plus VAT by volume, and the money buys the rest of the operation: the round planned, the driver dispatched, the skip tracked, the invoice raised, the classification done from a photograph. If none of that is a problem you have, you are paying for weight you will not lift.

The one thing we would push back on is the assumption that compliance and operations are separate purchases. Every load that gets filed also got collected, weighed, tipped and invoiced by somebody, and the reason LoadSnap files accurately is that it already holds all of that. Two systems means somebody keys the same movement twice, which is the problem digital waste tracking was meant to end.

An honest take

No tool is best for everyone. Here's where each one is the stronger choice.

Where MyWastetracker may be the better fit

  • A genuinely low entry price at £39 plus VAT with carrier, receiver and broker modules all included rather than tiered.
  • Free setup and free support, which lowers the risk of trying it.
  • The clearest plain-English explanation of the mandate on any competitor site, including honestly pointing out DEFRA's free spreadsheet alternative.
  • A published landline, which matters more to a one-yard operator than most software companies believe.
  • Priced per disposal site and per vehicle, so it scales down honestly for a single-site business.

Where LoadSnap is the stronger choice

  • Route planning, scheduling, jobs and recurring work, none of which MyWastetracker claims.
  • Container and skip tracking, invoicing, quotes and rate cards.
  • Capture that survives no signal, and AI classification from a photograph.
  • Weighbridge capture with gross and tare, and vehicle safety checks.
  • Every price tier published, rather than a from figure that varies by sites and vehicles.

Questions

LoadSnap vs MyWastetracker: FAQs

01Is MyWastetracker on the DEFRA list?
Yes, under Digital Waste Tracking Limited, and they state they passed PAT testing. So is LoadSnap. There are around 79 providers on that list, so it establishes a floor rather than a preference.
02What does MyWastetracker actually cost?
From £39 plus VAT for carriers, varying by the number of disposal sites and vehicles. They do not publish tiers, and there is no pricing page, so the figure for your operation comes from a conversation. It was free to use until October 2026.
03Does it have a driver app?
They say so, and that is all they say. Nothing on the site describes what it does, whether it works offline, or whether there are native apps. Worth seeing it demonstrated.
04Does it do more than DEFRA submission?
An office module, a drivers' app and reporting, plus receiver and broker modules. No routing, scheduling, container tracking, invoicing or weighbridge capture is claimed anywhere on the site.
05Should I be worried that they are a new company?
Not necessarily, but know it: Digital Waste Tracking Ltd was incorporated in June 2025, so there is no independent review history to check. LoadSnap is newer than Waste Logics too. Ask both of us for a reference.
